How can I be sure that this contest is on the up and up and not a scam?

There are a number of safeguards that have been built into this Essay Contest. First your entry fee is being placed in an account designated only for the contest and G. C. Jones Acquisitions, Inc. will not release any of these funds until the minimum number of entries have been received. Second, the judges will not know any details of the essay writer’s identity so that the essay will be judged simply on the rules of the contest.

How will the essay be judged.
|
|
|
We are looking for an original essay that expresses, from the heart, your beach fantasy. Be sure not to identify yourself in your essay. The judges will use the following criteria:
* Originality, creativity and sincerity – 60%
* Flow and Persuasiveness – 30%
* Grammar – 10%

Why do I have to give you my birth date? Can’t I just give you my age?
|
|
|
We need your birth date to be sure you are at least 21. This is a legal requirement but please be assured that this information will only be used by our law firm to be sure the rules, regulations and statutes are complied with. Only the winner’s name will be released at the conclusion of the Essay Contest. G. C. Jones Acquisitions, Inc. will not release any other personal information about the winner or any other entrant.

I don’t live in the USA. Why can’t I enter the Essay Contest?

Everything about the Essay Contest must be legal and therefore it would be cumbersome to try to comply with the laws of other countries.

The state in which I live is not on your drop down list. Why can’t I enter the Essay Contest?

It is not permissible for a person from certain states to enter. We are very sorry.

I really want to own Molly Caroline’s, the store, in Seaside, Florida but I am not interested in the house or car. Do I have to receive all three prizes if I win?

If you win you will receive all three prizes. Remember, the fee to enter is just $1,000 so if you win and don’t want all three prizes you will be able to sell, or donate to a friend, a family member or to your favorite charity, what you don’t wish to keep.

When the prizes are awarded will there be any liens on the property.
|
|
|
No. Each awarded prize will be free and clear of all liens. For the store that would mean the inventory, the rent paid through February 28, 2017, with all vendor bills paid in full and no other debt.

The entry fee of $1,000 seems very expensive. Why so much?
|
|
|
At first it may seem so but if you consider that there will not be more than 10,000 essays and perhaps as few as 3,000 essays and the combined value of the three prizes is well in excess of $1,000,000 (a million dollars) the entry fee is very reasonable.

I have two friends who want to join with me to enter. Will that be OK?
|
|
|
Yes, you may enter as an individual, a corporation or a partnership. Just be sure that you enter either your individual name or the name of your entity in the space provided. If you win you may title the properties in whatever name you wish.

When will the Essay Contest end?
|
|
|
It will end when 10,000 entries are received or Septmber 6, 2010, whichever comes first. If you are planning to enter don't procrastinate. Don't miss out and let the Essay Contest close before you enter.

May I write a poem or am I required to write an essay?
|
|
|
Yes, a poem will be fine as long as it follows all of the rules.

Am I required to enter using a computer?
|
|
|
It is highly recommended that you enter using your computer; however you may enter by mail if necessary. Please see and follow the directions found in The Rules.

If I win will there be any tax consequences for me?
|
|
|
